A multi-pronged approach to diversifying the workforce.
This paper describes a multi-pronged, collaborative approach to enhance the diversity of trainees and scholars at the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education. It describes the Career Education and Enhancement for Health Care Research Diversity (CEED) program, designed for postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty and the CEED II program designed for medical students.

Simulation research in gastrointestinal and urologic care-challenges and opportunities: summary of a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to examine the extent to which simulation approaches have been used by skilled proceduralists (not trainees) caring for patients with gastrointestinal and urologic diseases. The current status of research findings in the use and effectiveness of simulation applications was reviewed, and numerous knowledge gaps and research needs were identified by the faculty and the attendees.

Content and trends in medical informatics publications over the past two decades.
This study aims to identify subject content and trends in the medical informatics literature in order to shed light on the past, current, and future directions of diverse education and research activities. It found 73 core topics and 72 new topics of medical informatics within three relevant MeSH categories (informatics, techniques, and healthcare).
