A risk prediction model to identify newborns at risk for missing early childhood vaccinations.
Approximately 30% of US children aged 24 months have not received all recommended vaccines. This retrospective cohort study aimed to develop a prediction model to identify newborns at high risk for missing early childhood vaccines. The investigators concluded that their prediction model using information readily available in birth hospitalization records consistently identified newborns at high risk for undervaccination.

Timely hepatitis B birth dose receipt for newborns: within 24 hours.
In this paper, the authors discuss the importance of timely administration of the hepatitis B birth dose to achieve the national goal of zero perinatal hepatitis B transmission in the near future. They state that the necessity of capturing vaccination opportunities in diverse health care settings is clearly evident during the coronavirus pandemic.

Rotavirus vaccination rate disparities seen among infants with acute gastroenteritis in Georgia.
The purpose of this study was to determine possible disparities and socio-economic differences in RV vaccination rates. The study conclude that racial disparities and socio-economic differences are not determinants in rotavirus vaccination rates; however, age and ethnicity have an effect on RV vaccine status.

Respiratory syncytial virus immunoprophylaxis in high-risk infants and development of childhood asthma.
This study sought to determine whether greater adherence to immunoprophylaxis in infants at high risk for severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) would be associated with decreased childhood asthma in a Medicaid population. The investigation of RSV immunoprophylaxis in high-risk children primarily found nonsignificant associations on prevention of asthma in specific preterm groups .

Medicaid pay for performance programs and childhood immunization status.
This national study examined the effects of pay for performance (P4P) programs on childhood immunization rates. It found no overall effect of Medicaid P4P on the chance that children aged 19-35 months had completed the 4:3:1:3:3:1 vaccination series. However, there was a 4 percentage point increase in the chance that a child 19-23 months had completed the series.

Modeling the economic and epidemiologic impact of hookworm vaccine and mass drug administration (MDA) in Brazil, a high transmission setting.
The authors evaluated the potential economic and epidemiologic impact of a preventive hookworm vaccine. A pediatric hookworm vaccine drastically decreased hookworm prevalence in children. A booster in adulthood further reduced the overall prevalence and nearly eliminated hookworm infection in children. The authors conclude that a human hookworm vaccine would provide both health benefits and cost savings.
